Gnome - Chad Hoot
Chad is a happy whistling gnome with a wonderful soft floppy blue-hazel hat. When throwing this hat on the wheel it started to collapse. The “save” gave this wonderful undulating hat that had an big indent, just asking for something to sit in it. At first I was planning to leave Chad simple and unadorned, but once he had all his features and had dried a few days, he asked for an owl!! It was such a perfect spot, but having never painted an owl I was concerned. I’m so thrilled with how he turned out! Chad has beautiful green pants, bronze shoes, a purple flower and a man-bun in the back. He stands 10” tall. Suitable indoors or out but NOT in freezing temperatures.
My gnomes start on the wheel where their body-hat form is created in a random and free flop at the end of lifting the clay into a tall neck “vase” shape. Hat rims and all detail features are added and carved by hand. The gnome’s individual character is organically created during this process with no prior planning. Each detail is then hand painted with cone 6 glazes. Each gnome is kiln fired twice. Prices vary depending on the amount of details.
